LT Series Reactor

Used in combination with capacitor banks to prevent resonance.

LT Series Reactor

LT Series Reactors are connected in series with LT capacitor banks to block harmonic currents, prevent resonance, and extend capacitor life. In networks with variable frequency drives, solar inverters, arc furnaces, or other non-linear loads, a capacitor bank without a series reactor is at serious risk — the reactor is the difference between a system that lasts decades and one that fails in months.

Key Benefits

  • Prevents resonance between capacitor banks and system inductance which can be a major cause of capacitor failure
  • Protects capacitors from harmonic currents that can overheat and damage them
  • Acts as a harmonic filter when tuned to specific frequencies (e.g., 189 Hz for 5th harmonic detuning)
  • Extends capacitor life significantly by limiting harmonic stress
  • Reduces harmonic amplification in systems with VFDs, soft starters, and rectifiers
  • Mandatory in harmonic-rich environments , thereby skipping reactor risks premature capacitor failure
